  • Anjou pears are medium and short. The shape of the pear is like an egg with a wide base and gradually tapers to a rounded top with a stem that is thick and dark brown. The skin is bright green, smooth, firm, and is covered in lenticels or pores, and on the side most exposed to the sun, there are red blushes. The flesh is white to cream-colored, dense, buttery, and slightly gritty. When ripe, Anjou pears are juicy and soft with subtle, sweet flavors and notes of lemon and lime.

  • Delicious to eat fresh, this fruit is used to prepare juices, jams, desserts, and fruit salads. We recommend tasting it with semi-seasoned and spicy cheese. They pair well with the following items: beef, wasabi, arugula, fennel, mushrooms, radish sprouts, carrots, apple, red onion, cheeses such as mozzarella, Greek yogurt, quinoa, pecans, sesame seeds, cinnamon, ginger powder, and balsamic dressing.

  • Pear-Kiwi-Lime Smoothie

    Ingredients:

    1 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
    1/4 cup water
    2 kiwis (peeled and halved)
    1 pear Anjou
    2 Tbsp. honey
    1 cup ice cubes

    Instructions:

    1. In a blender, combine all ingredients. Puree until smooth, pour into glasses, and serve.
